BNS, GKF sign Memorandum of Understanding

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

Sky Blue Nursing School (SBNS) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gambia Kids Foundation based in the Netherlands. The signing ceremony took place at the SBNS grounds in Latrikunda German.  The objective of the MoU is to help Gambian kids by providing them with scholarships and other useful things in life.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Jarmilla Hofman, the chairperson of the Gambia Kids Foundation, expressed gratitude at being part of the initiative.

She disclosed that five needy children from the school would benefit from a scholarship package provided by the Foundation back in Holland. She further disclosed that they plan to introduce a feeding programme, restructure the school, and also open an office, to enable them help more children. Hofman finally urged parents to send their children to school, stressing that it is their right to be educated.

Signing the MoU, Babucarr Secka, the proprietor of Sky Blue Nursing School, explained that the school was established in April 2006 with the name Lus’s Nursing School, but was recently changed to Sky Blue Nursing School. He said the MoU is meant to foster more understanding between them and the Foundation for the benefit of Gambian children. He also thanked the donors for considering his school and promised to put the items into good use.

Aja Sira Njie-Singateh, the cluster monitor of Latrikunda German, under the MoBSE, underscored the importance of education. He also thanked the Gambia Kids Foundation for the kind gesture. She urged parents to be helpful and assist their kids at home. Njie-Singateh also promised to deliver the initiative at her ministry level.

The operation manager of African Adventure Tours, Momodou Sowe, said his office has been involved in this kind of initiative in The Gambia previously, and they are ready to do more as far as education is concerned. He urged parents, teachers and sponsors to be generous and honest, stressing that whoever educates a child educates a nation.

Anty Fatou Njie and Abubacarr also expressed similar sentiments.
